David A. Young, M.D. began his private practice in Hawaii in 2003 at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. He is consecutively voted one of Hawaii's Best Doctors in Hawaii by HONOLULU Magazine since 2010.
My dad and three uncles were pediatricians, and I have always wanted to help kids,” says Dr.Young. “To me, ophthalmology was the most fascinating field in medicine and allowed for amazing high-tech treatments, so they both came together for me during training.

From the islands
Raised in Hawaii, and a graduate of the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Dr. David A. Young did his residency at Brown University/ Rhode Island Hospital and his fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania/Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Young enjoys playing basketball and kettlebell exercises; He is also a board member of DOJO RITAH (a non profit organization) and Directors of physicians Exchange of Honolulu, inc.
He and his wife of 25 years have 2 sons.
"I grew up here, and my wife's family and mine are here," he says.
"We both knew that even when we went to the mainland for training that we wanted to come back."

Tara Tagami, O.D.
Tara Tagami, OD received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry. During her time in optometry school, she developed a passion for pediatric eye care, leading her to pursue a residency in Pediatric Optometry at the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. During her residency, she received extensive training in pediatrics, infant vision care, children with special needs, myopia management, vision therapy, and electrodiagnostic testing. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading new books, traveling, and finding new crafting hobbies.
Caryn Uechi, O.D.
Dr. Caryn Uechi was born and raised on the island of Maui. She attended Baldwin High School and later attended University of Hawaii at Manoa where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Dr. Uechi attended Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon where she graduated and received her Doctor of Optometry Degree. She is a member of American Optometric Association and also Hawaii Optometric Association, where she served on the board as representative and secretary. Dr. Uechi has been practicing with Dr. David Young since 2011 and is passionate about pediatric eye care. She enjoys going to the beach and traveling to Japan with her husband and two children.
