Raised in Hawaii, and a graduate of the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Dr. David Young did his residency at Brown University/ Rhode Island Hospital and his fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania/Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Pediatric Eye Exams
The American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend a first eye exam at 6 months of age, again at the age of 3 or 4 and then every one to two years thereafter. Roughly eighty percent of what a child learns is through vision. Good vision is essential for a child's development and education. It is important for children to have a comprehensive eye exam as they may not recognize symptoms of poor vision or be able to communicate them properly. Some eye conditions are only seen in children and can be incredibly unique from those seen in adults. Many conditions, if not treated at a young age, can result in permanent vision loss.
